Well the sun is out again and my mind is turning to thoughts of gardening.

Does any one have any tips or tricks to make gardening life a little easier?

Also if these are not too expensive that would be a bonus i've seen some great ideas but often disappointed by a hefty price tag...

hi
yes
long handled tools u can get a lightweight set the pole had fixing for each end to just slot in.
so dont have bend for weeding, making plating holes.

b q did them last year.

pots another option,raised beds.
chip bark redcuse weeds and keeos water around plants for longer.

hardy plants that dont take much looking after i do use.
a foldable stool to sit on for planting or hip height table.

balance time doing it so as not to overdo things.
and most all enjoy it.

stones into post to weigh down so wind dont blow them over.

thats good tip - chips/ bark will have to get some more, used some last year really good ~ HATE weeding! Far too fiddly!

Its the seeds i find most tricky ~ found some things to help on line but seem very expensive for what they are, will have a look local garden center or try to improvise something......
pacing great idea too - little and often with plenty of breaks in between :)

Looking forward to some sunshine, hope its just around the corner xx

Steve is building raised beds, using decking. It is looking good. The beds are at the right height for me to sort out from the wheelchair. They also look great. We got this idea from the sensory garden at Naidex.
Love Jean - happy gardening.

Hi All,

I with a little help dug up my front grass a couple of years ago and covered it with a black membrane then pebble gravel. I put cottage roses here and there in it and I have a small border around it. It looks lovely and does not require too much maintenance. I have a long handled claw like tool for weeding, it is a great tool and well worth the money, don't think it was too expensive when I got it. Happy gardening Lorna xx Smile

I too have gravel with borders. Long handled tools are great and I also sit on a stool to do weeding.

I asked for the tools or gardening vouchers for Christmas/birthday presents.

Happy gardening. It's going to be nice this weekend, so we should be able to get out there in the fresh air.

Raised bed for me too, and weedblock with gravel on top.
For very small seeds you can put them into salt or pepper pot and shake them out like that.
If you put your tools down, don't put them on the floor but on a chair or table so you don't have to keep bending down to pick them up.
I have a padded yoga mat which is good for sitting on if weeding, can't kneel comfortably now. Only a couple of pounds from the supermarket.

You can upturn pots to stand another pot on to raise it up.

Wearing splints under gardening gloves helps to protect the wrists.

I do things in short bursts- 10 mins then rest for a few minutes etc.

I do all my gardening in pots and one long raised bed. I plant veggies and flowers all in together. The weeds are less in pots.

hello everyone,
im not sure if this will be of any help at all but my mum used to have what she called her 'picker upper' aka the stick rubbish men use to pick up litter, she found it really handy for everything as it meant she didnt need to bend down to pick anything up which meant she didnt get so stiff so quickly. also she had a scooter she used to wiz around the garden oon and adjusted the hight of the seat which was pretty good.
